I am in my early 40's and have been cooking Thanksgiving (and dinner every Sunday) for my family since I was 32. I have 3 brothers and all there children plus 6 kids of my own, grandchildren, plus my father. My mother passed away several yrs ago and the duty fell upon me. I have tried to keep the tradition of family dinners every sundy, plus holidays going the way my mother did for us.

Almost 20 years older than you. Never cooked a turkey. Tried homemade dressing a couple years ago, this year I bought Stove Top. Need I elaborate? I have a turkey breast thawing, and the makings for mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, I have to go get a can of cranbery jell, and I have no ideas what to fix for dessert. Something from a box. I have to work Thanskgiving, I go in at 7pm, so there will not be much time.
My grandmother, my Mom, and her sister took turns cooking the holiday feasts, until I was in my late teens, and the Aunt's children grown, and gone from home. They decided enough already, and everybody would have a dinner for their immediate family.
My Mom passed away without teaching me how to make dressing, so I'm stuck trying different recipes. I like the recipe on the box of Stove Top, thanks.
Don't be embarrased, we all have the same problem, the Moms and Grandma's did all the holiday cooking, we never had to.I saw somewhere that if you wrap the bird in gauze, and baste through that, it makes a juicy, brown bird. I found the recipe, but there was a warning, if you let it dry out, it could catch on fire. All that lovely butter and gauze would make a bonny blaze! No thanks, I'll skip the guaze.
Happy thanksgiving!

I'm 37 and mother-in-law is doing most of the cooking. I am only doing the easy stuff...ham (pre-cooked), mashed potatoes, corn, baked beans. She always makes the really hard things like the turkey, cornbread dressing, sweet potato casserole, pumpkin pies...etc. I feel so ashamed, but she knows as well as I do that I SUCK at cooking, LOL. It just works better this way!!! I am venturing into making lemon brownies for dessert this year. My kids and I made them for a school thing once and they turned out pretty well. So wish me luck 'cause people I actually know will be eating them this time! lol
Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day and weekend!!!

I am 29, I have cooked the turkey before, but this year we are doing a family potluck style thanksgiving. my mom is cooking the turkey, ham, and 2 desserts, the rest is up to us. Everyone is required to bring one dish, some are bringing 2 dishes. This works really well there is plenty to eat and the burdon of cooking is not on one person alone.

I'm 22 and my cooking skills are limited to Breakfast food, Ramen Noodles and Mac & Cheese. I don't think it would be a very good Thanksgiving if I was in charge of the cooking. :) So my mom cooks.

I cooked Thanksgiving a week ago for my sons, now tomorrow, it is my cousins turn to cook.
I cook the Turkey every year since my wife does not know how to, and there is nothing wrong with that, because she cooks all the side dishes.

My wife started in her early twenties. My father is also a cook, and he started in his twenties.
Get on the stick lady, it is never too late to get started. There is plenty of info on how to do it. The first does not have to be the worst.
Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving!
