I am just curious to know what it is the "hecklers" in the audience were saying that set him off like that...were they making racist remarks at him? Or does he really not like black people? but he, as a celebrity or at least a has-been celebrity should have known that because of his status whatever he said would be blown out of proportion. If he had walked off the stage without saying anything, it would have been on tv....if he simply cursed them out without using the "n" word, it still would have been on tv...I don't think it was a publicity stunt persay, but I think that the "hecklers" should come forward with what they were saying during his act....I believe it is better to hear both sides of a story....rather than assuming that he is just a racist......I just don't get it...I mean, I have no problem with any person...so long as they don't start problems with me...he was obviously angry about what they said...so it must have been something worth some sort of reaction. And I am not saying what he said is right, but and not to sound naive, but why is it okay for other comedians who are black to use that word in their shows? Or when talking amongst one another? And I am not saying "ALL" that would be stupid...but some do...And if it were a black comedian on the stage who was being heckled by a group of white guys and he called them "crackers" or "honkies" I doubt it would have made the press...I realize that the "n" word is much more vulgar and is misinterpreted when misused, but why the double standard? Just a thought...

I saw it. Unbelievable. I disagree with the people on here who say he was trying to retaliate against someone who was heckling him. What several audience members said is that he got angry because a group of people were talking during his act. When he challenged them to stop talking, one of the guys said "my friend doesn't think you're very funny." That set Kramer off and that's what started the whole racist rant.
Is the whole thing overblown? Yes. From what I've seen on the various online forums, the only people who really got a charge out of it are those racist trolls who used it as an opportunity to offer their own similar racist rants against black people. I guess losers attract other losers.
Does it really matter to anyone but him? Not really. It's just something to chat about for a day or two.
Am I going to buy the Seinfeld DVD set now? No. But I wasn't going to buy it anyway.

I saw it and was shocked! I know he has apologized, but the damage has been done. I'm not saying that he is racist because everyone gets mad and says things they don't mean, but he messed up big time! He might need to go to anger management. I mean as a stand up comedian he should be able to handle people talking and hecklers and whatever. Just like the audience handles it when the comedians make fun of them. I think he was drunk or something, but you just can't get in front of an audience and say things like that. I'm just glad the audience didn't turn it into a race riot. A lot of innocent people could have gotten hurt.

The role of the heckler will always be attached to the comedian. Michael Richards, with many years in the comedy business, should know what to expect when faced with a heckler.
It's funny how the same people who are quick to say, "Oh, I'm not racist...I have (add your own person to this) who is black!" are the same ones when there are no black people around at the other side of their mouth are telling a racist joke. Quick to throw the blame on someone else when they were the ones that reacted ignorantly.

I seen it, and to address the people who keep on insisting that that outburst was apart of his act, it wasn't so therefore he wasn't trying to be funny and he wasn't trying to cover it up, he was upset and showed his true colors... yes he did apologize for embarrassing himself, as for what he said--I doubt it. People keep stating that everyone needs to get over it, but how can you when you watch that and knowing it wasn't a part of his standup, I was a big Kramer fan, but now I can't even watch another episode of Seinfield thinking in my mind he is a little racist or think very little of African Americans because the first thing that comes to his mind when black people upset him is lynching and the N word-- then he came back the next night and didn't even apologize to the crowd or to the club owners who also assumed his outburst was a part of his act, but when they realized their wasn't no punch line, they knew he screwed up big time.

I've seen it over, and over, and over, and over... Someone who's not a racist and a good professional comic would've thought of other ways to lash out at a heckler. However, I don't believe it should've been a top story.

I saw the clip on TMZ.com
Really shocking & disgusting.
Who'd have thought the lovable Kramer was capable of that? Sad.

I heard that he "retaliated" due to some folks in the audience who wouldn't stop harrassing him...bad gig, bad decision neither side had the right to do what they did. However, no one is telling the audience end of things because the "Seinfeld guy's" reaction is what makes news, news. Too bad.

I've seen the video and I'm not convinced he was being racist. I think he was angry at being interrupted and tried to mix humor in and cover his anger up. He tried to be funny and it just wasn't funny. He's apologized. It's over with.
This situation has been blown out of proportion. We all need to move on about it.
