Was you're baby born on time? Or how many days early /late were you with you're first?

My first baby is due on Boxing Day, that is the date i was given by my scans, but my first original date by date is the 17th Dec ..during antental classes i was told that she could come anytime from 37weeks which is normal and up to 2 weeks after.. Friends and family say the 1st is always late ?! im so excited i cant wait, i have got my bag for hospital packed already :-) Based on you're experience / knowledge - what do you think?

Like you I was given a due date that was about a week after the dates I had worked out from my last period. The hospital advised me that the 12 week scans are far more accurate than LMP date. As it turned out, my baby was born 2 hours after the date given by hospital! Not everyone is the same but first babies tend to be late anyway so i'd go with their date. I know you sound very excited and probably can't wait for your baby to be here, but honestly you should use these last few weeks to get as much sleep as possible and stop wishing it sooner.(everyone told me this and i didn't listen!) Before you know it your little baby will be here! good luck!

Only 5% of babies arrive on their due date. My baby arrived 8 days late. My mum was on time with the 1st one, late 2 weeks with the second and early 2 weeks with the third. As you can see, there is no pattern.

I was 14 days overdue when I was finally induced, that is because i was living in germany at the time and they believe in it coming naturally rather than inducing after a week like they do over here (uk)
there is nothing worse than walking around after your due date and people saying "havent you had it yet?"
Clearly not love as i am still fit to burst! it was really annoying but your baby will come when he/she is ready enjoy the time you have left sleeping your gonna need it.
Your very lucky all the best with your baby xx

No guarantee. Out of three one was a month early, one on time and one late. Your baby will arrive when he/she thinks fit regardless of what you would like. Do not believe the first is early myth. But better to be ready and waiting than panic at the last minute. One helpful tip is that you should feel very energetic and want everywhere clean and tidy just prior to labour commencing. Sit back, enjoy, and have fun.

I had my first son 2 days early, and my second son 2 weeks early and my third son 2 days late. Your baby will come when it wants to it doesn't matter about the dates. Just look at my dates :)

They all arrive when they're ready-whether they're early, late or spot on.

My 1st son was spot on time-thought he was going to be a week early but it was only Brackston Hicks. My daughter was 6 days late and my son was 6 days late too, (they're a year apart not twins).

Looks like you're gonna be excited for a while to come yet, sit back, relax and enjoy the remaining full nights sleep!

Good luck!!

Due dates are only estimates so on time is anything after what is considered full term. Early would be before 37-38 weeks and late would be nearing 41-42 weeks.

38-40 weeks is the average.

HI my first baby was born 1 week late, and then they had induced me. you're right to have everything ready, because the 1st baby isnt ALWAYS late, my sister in law was about 10 days early. so its either way really. best of luck when the time does come, you will not realise you had so much love in you when you see your little bundle of joy.

My first was due 16 October, but he came on 23 September, perfectly healthy. My second was 7 days early. They were both perfectly cooked! You should be prepared at any time. I would much rather be early than late - all that waiting around!
