Do they just realise how fast the club is growing internationally?
I've noticed that by looking at questions concerning chelsea...
I'm a Man U fan and I've just found out that it's a mistake to keep saying good things for a so called big team and with one Champions League trophy only... I think the uk people are just distracted with the local trophies and not the international one which are the most importante.
A team with 1 Champions League trophy is not a big team if so what do we say about: Liverpool, Ac Milan, Ajax, Munich, and the Big seed Real Madrid...

Till Man Utd won the premiership in 1993 they had gone years without any sort of trophy. Chelsea are now at the stage Man Utd were in at the end of the 1994 season so there are a few more trphies to come yet.

I agree with Chris G LEAVE CHELSEA ALONE!!!!

Chelsea are not the only team with rich owners! Pompey are owned by a russian too and they are now doing very well, thank you! and they have not spent millions - yet!

It's always been the case that if you are doing well then you will be disliked. I don't think it has anything to do with a foreign owner - Apart from southampton fans, no one hates Pompey as far as I know and, No, I am not a Pompey fan - just live down this way. I am a Chelsea fan and have been for almost 40 years.

Mourinho has built a team (with some surplus players, I must add) who are keen to win the Champions League. As I have mentioned before, I remember when we used to go to Stamford Bridge and there were people rattling buckets to try to get money to save the club from going into liquidation - back in the late 70's. We came through that and found Abramovich who was willing to pump money into the club and bring them up the standard which they are now!

C'mon the Blues ....!

Several reasons:

1. Traditionally, Chelsea fans are notorious for being stupid, violent, racist thugs. This was much more of a problem in the 70s and 80s , and is probably not true anymore, but the stain of that remains in the mind of many other fans.

2. Five years ago, they were an average team with a medium support. Then they were bought by a suspicious multi billionaire who made his money almost overnight by stealing oil funds from the Russian people and hiding the cash in Swiss bank accounts so that he cant be arrested, and suddenly they have lots and lots of brand new fans.

3. No-one likes the way they have simply bought their success. instead of earning it through hard work and developing players. This is not considered fair or in the tradition of the game.

4. When Abramovich gets bored of his plaything, which he will eventually, they will be left with huge debts and will go bankrupt.

Oh, and if you are a Man Utd. fan then you ought to know they've won the Champions League ( European Cup) TWICE !

I think the reason that Chelsea get a lot of stick from people because they have bought the success they are currently enjoying. I don't think there is a single member of the Chelsea first team, with possibly the exception of John Terry who have been brought up and nurtured at Stamford Bridge. They have all been bought in with Roman's millions. And of course, they still have not won the Champions League in spite of this investment and I don't think they are going to win it this season either.

When Celtic won the European Cup in 1967, every one of their players came from within a 20 mile radius of Glasgow and were brought up through the ranks at Celtic Park. Everyone of the Rangers team that won the Cupwinners Cup in 1972 were all Scots, as was the Aberdeen team who won the same trophy in the mid 80s. You can't say even that the majority of the Chelsea team who play week in, week out are English in origin.

I think you would get more respect from people if you earned your success on the pitch rather than bought it off the pitch.

I don't hate Chelsea, but It appears to me that a lot of ppl hate Chelsea because (in no particular order)...
1) glory supporters
2) Mourinho
3) money
4) too many internationals and not enough English players.

But that is just what I've noticed (as an overseas, living in the U.S, supporter of Liverpool).

To those who say success is brought are wrong. At the end of the day it's team work that brings success not 11 individuals doing their own thing. It's a matter of getting these Talented individuals to play as a team. That's where the Coach comes into his own, and don't forget Mourinho won the Champion's League with Porto, no big name Players, or Mega Bucks behind him there, his track record is proven. I think I'm a lot older than most who post here, my memories go back to the early 60's, and it seems like one team dominates for a decade or so. then fall by the wayside.

I don't think it's a question of looking at Chelsea on a national or international basis. The objection to their recent success is because they bought it.

With unlimited funds, any team Ambramovich bought would be where Chelsea are now, and let's not forget that he was initially interested in Tottenham.

If you gave Arsene Wenger, Martin Jol, Sir Alex Ferguson, Rafa Benitez, or even dare I say, Sam Allardyce £500m spending money, any one of those teams would dominate, and yet Mourinho deludes himself he has achieved something special.

He has the easiest job in football - if he wants it, the money is there. He can't field a 'weak' second-string team, he has ample cover for every position, and if there's any chance of a competing side buying a real talent, they buy them up to prevent it.

That's why I think there is animosity towards them. Success needs to be earnt, not bought.

the more people who hate chelsea the better in my opinion...it just goes to show how successful they r becoming...everybody hates the team at the top...& arcadia, i have already stated in an answer to another question that should abramovic decide to quit chelsea, he has already got a law binding agreement that he honours all the chelsea players contracts & pays any outstanding debts from the club, with another few hundred million thrown in on top of that...so chelsea will not be going bankrupt...

they have bought their success and the worst thing about them is that they dont even play with a nice bit of skill and flair a la arsenal, manure,or even Liverpool when they get their game going at anfield.
they also have the most beloved manager in the world with good old Jose conspiracy theory who believes everyone is out to get us.also when you read about them going up and down the country cutting the very heart and soul out of other less well off teams youth set up's it makes your blood boil even more.
then again we might just have a chip on our shoulders

because they have bought a successful team instead of building it up. look at a team like middlesbrough. they got to the final of the uefa cup last season and granted they arent doing great this season but they are building there team up using a lot of local lads. i think that is more admirable than just using money to buy a team.
