My 5 month old just had his first tooth push through his bottom gum. You can see it if you look closely, and can feel it if you rub your finger along his bottom gum. How long does it typically take for a tooth to push all the way out of the gums??

Once you can see the white of the tooth under the gumline, it can take up to one week for the tooth to break through. Once it's broken through the gumline, it takes about two months for the tooth to push all the way up.

Add that to the weeks of teething pain that happened BEFORE anyone ever saw a tooth, and that's about four months of teething pain for one very sore baby :(

It all depends. My son started teething started to the teething process when he was three months old and never actually got a tooth untl he was six months then he get six pretty much all at the same time and is now 11 1/2 months old and still hasn't gotten anymore. It takes time just like everything else.

it depends. remember your wisdom teeth growing in? It took weeks.. some times months, even a year or better for them to get all the way in.

Its all up to your baby's body as to how quickly it happens for him.

Generally the worst of it is over in a couple weeks, although it can take longer for it to move completely into place.
