Maybe in the next 10. I not sure of the next 20. They may have something, but, it may not be what it would be now. Example; say a person would get $1000 a month now, in 10-20 years that may be $700. I not sure and just my opinion.
The interesting thing I want to see are these "Tax Deferred" Retirement Plans. Economists say we will be paying a higher tax rate in the future, I curious as to what happen when people start to retire and pay taxes on that money. I not have much trust, so, I prefer to pay my Taxes as I go. Just another opinion.

I wouldn't hold your breath. There will probably be Social Security at that point, but the amount will not be what you may be expecting currently. The best idea is to get an personal investment strategy together so that you can assure yourself that you will see some money after retirement, then any government money is a bonus on top of that.

Yes the benefits will be available. No politician will get re-elected if they cut benefits, so no politician will allow SS to but cut or ended. Sadly, the only choice that leaves is that the rest of us will continue to have our money (and future) stolen to pay for SS.
How exactly is every younger generation supposed to save for our own retirement if all our money is being stolen to pay for the older generation's retirement? Social Security is slavery. It forces one group of people (our generation) to work solely for another group's benefit (retiring generation). And since our generation's wealth is being stolen, and we can't save for our own retirement, that means our children's wealth will be stolen to pay for our retirement. Setting up an endless loop of enslaving each generation.
The worst thing about SS (besides it being slavery) is that it is completely unnecessary. It is paying money to people that are healthy and able to work and support themselves. We are literally paying people for nothing more than being lucky enough to live to the age of 65!
Social Security is immoral and economically unsound. It (and other social programs like it) will eventually lead to the death of America as we know it.

No I dont think it will be around much longer. They say that we donot have enough funds in social security to keep us afloat when we retire. I am wondering if that is the case then why am I paying social security right now??? I am not going to see it anyway.....

Contact your state revenue department, the IRS and the Social Security Administration. How did you find out someone was using an invalid SS number?

If the government would stop using the surplus each year, it would be around forever. Repubs want to privatize it, Dems don't. Why? Well if SS is privatized, the government couldn't touch it. Dems try putting fear into people, saying "you could lose it all". They think very highly of the people... I won't lose it, but leaving it in the governments hands, there's a good chance We will lose it all.
If SS is not going to be around, then we should stop paying into it. Right?

I doubt that Social Security will be able to meet its obligations because the fund has been raided so many times.

It is the 'blach hole' of politics. No one wants to touch it because the older people get scared, freak out, and wont vote for them. SS is running out of money. I am 23, working, paying into it, and it wont be here for me unless somthing is done about it. We know this. Bush can't run for re-election, so this NOW is the time to fix it.
