The number of days in a year 365 or 366 is not divisible by 7. if we had a 5 day week and no leap years then dates would alwys fall on the same date. This however would not tie in with the story of creation as told in Genesis and create havoc.

Because neither 365 nor 366 (the possible number of days in a year) can be divided by 7 (the number of days of the week). So each year will start on a different day from the last.

Because 365 / 7 = 52 remainder 1, therefore the day of the week for a particular date moves on one day each year (2 days if there is a leap year day inbetween).

because there is a different number of days in the month. Do you expect every month to start the first on a Sunday so that it would be the same day every year? Good luck with that, it would totally mess up your schedule.

because there are 365 (or 366) days in a year and this isn't divisable by 7 (days in a week) so there is a shift each year.
