I don't know what it is but i'm just compelled to help them out. Should I make my own site and charge people for me to do their homework? lol. Over half the questions on this site are just out of pure laziness, if people looked up the questions themself, it wouldn't take nearly as long as waiting for answers on this thing, AND after I answer, the couch potatoes don't even vote for a best answer!

Is there a way to see if people actually vote for best answer before you answer their questions? If so, I think everyone should start doing that.

What do you think?

If you're wondering about whether or not they award best answer, go to their profile and look at their resolved questions. If the questions all got resolved by a vote, you know they won't follow up on this one either. I'd say about 90% of the kids on here don't give a best answer nod, even when they're clearly given a stellar answer.
But here is the good news. Go ahead and answer it anyway, because even if it does go to a vote, you can go back and vote for yourself. Trust me, I do it all the time. ;) Not to be vain or anything, but when you work hard on an answer, and you know they used your answer for their school work, then by God you ought to be rewarded for it. Otherwise, the voters don't care and best answer goes to some lameoid with a stupid answer.
And by the way, charging people to help them with work is called being a tutor. There are tutoring sites out there that charge money (Sylvan, for example, has online chat for their clients). Yahoo is where kids come because this is free.
And incidentally, I personally don't mind helping kids out. I remember what it's like to be a kid. Whether they get it from us, or they get it from Google, two days later they forget about it anyway.
We ought to just be glad they're doing their homework! I'm not so inclined to help the college level askers, but the kids on here who are begging for a good grade in history...I can't help but feel bad for them.

If I am bored especially at work I'll look up the answers for some things. It keeps me busy and I learn a lot of NEW things along the way.
As for voting I do vote for the best answer when I post a question. When I answer a question I want to know if the information I looked up was right or wrong. It's not so much for the points, but the information.
You're right though! You take the time to answer and look information up and then they don't vote for best answer. It defeats the purpose I agree.

Amen, brother, preach on! A lot of kids now days are just flat lazy. I can envision their waitng on an answer to their homework and playing video games or watching TV. I too am compelled to help them - I guess I am partly to blame for making them lazy, huh? Oh, well, I keep myself sharper that way.

I think you just want points and credit for being smart.
