I think it goes deeper than that. They may understand that foreplay is important; they may know what "moves" are best. I think what they do not understand is that our minds & bodies react to different stimulai then theirs. Men are very visual, women are not quite as visual as men. Men are also typically much more easily aroused. Just the suggestion of sex can have them ready to go. Women need mental/emotional, physical, & visual stimulation. If a guy has all the right moves, but the woman is not exactly "warmed up" just yet & he jumps right in, it can still be "off". In all honesty, I kind of feel bad for men, because we are very complex creatures. One day it may take the littlest thing to get us in the mood, the next he's trying everything that worked last time, but we're just not connecting. Most men have very fragile egos. If you can gently give direction to a man without him letting his ego get in the way, it's a lot easier to make sure you both walk away satisfied.

Men understand foreplay. We do, really. We even want to do it for you. Honestly. But, once in a while, could a woman just think about how much fun sex is? Go with the moment, have some fun. Don't make it all gooey, touchy-feely emotional every single time. Guys love to have fun. If you make it like work, we're going to lose interest in it, and you. We don't want that to happen but it does. So, try concentrating on the fun part of sex as much as your partner concentrates on the foreplay part. You might just find that its enough fun to take some of the work out of it.

I have heard this simple phrase "Women need to feel the love before they feel the love.'
That's been very helpful to my husband. Without love, my heart's just not in it.
