They can say i hate. Alec Baldwin, though a flake, is not in jail for his stupid statements. Either is Michael Moore for his hateful lies, nor is Kramer for his racist outburst recently during his comic performance.
hate speech is protected. If you want to do some great reading, read up on the fighting words doctrine, brandenburg versus Ohio, and other first amendment cases.

To the same extent, the black panthers and other racial groups can do the same thing. The Panthers have actually walked the streets with loaded shotguns before but nobody did anything there.
Anybod can say hate all they want. The problem is the political correctness and fear of offending that curbs these people. You must also understand that there have been Muslim leaders and other people of our own country who have said they want to kill the president. They were neither arrested or questioned. Is that fair? I know you just put the KKK out there for the fact that when you think of racism that's who you think of first.
What they are doing is a peaceful protest, as dumb as that may sound. They go to the court and get a permit to march and do it leagally. All those you have mentioned Prof, TV/Radio host, they ALL HAVE THOSE WHO DO THIS, and they don't get in trouble. Just remember there are lines that can't be crossed.

The freedom of speech doesn't mean that anyone gets to say anything at anytime. It is about balance. The courts decide when speech can be limited. For example, in Tinker v. Des Moines it was written that students and teachers don't shed their Constitutional rights at the schoolhouse gate. But it also said that speech can be limited if it "causes a material and substantial disruption of the educational process." So, students (nor teachers) get to say things that will cause a disruption of the educational process. Freedoms outlined in the Bill of Rights are not unlimited nor absolute. There is always a need for balance, and that is one of the purposes of the Supreme Court: to determine that balance.

As the other posts pointed out the speech is allowed, however the PC police, usually special interest groups, certain politicians, and the media, chase down those that use the language they don't agree with and usual hold the trial in the public forum of the newspapers, gossip columns or the so called TV "news".

Hate speech is allowed if you have the media portray you as a victim. Otherwise why would AP (Associated {with terrorists} Press) glory in showing the running commentary on the Islamofascist snipers killing Americans under the guise of free speech. In other words, if you hate a traditional America and all that it has done in 230 years, you are not spouting hate. This is "P/C statesmanship". If you want America to remain a great nation, you are obviously a hate monger. Got it?

People can say what they hate. But hate is always wrong.
I can't help but notice that you included 'professors' in your list. Sounds like you're fishing for people to agree with you, but you've made a terrible mistake. There's a difference between a 'talk show host' saying something as their opinion, and a college professor ' teaching' hatred and their hate-filled views. All of us, as youths were impressionable to whatever our teachers taught us. We look to our teachers for facts and truth. There's no room for a radical, hate-filled professor to be 'teaching' our youth. An adult has experience and enough wisdom to discern fact from opinion, a college student does not, in general. Hate-filled diatribes from college 'professors' are a danger to our country, just look at all the misinformed youth on this site, filled with lies and conjecture and passing it off as truth.

Because hate speech can possibly disturb the peace by inciting violence and mayhem in society. Therefore, hate speech has to be curtailed to protect the rights of the majority.

Hate speech is protected speech. It ends when it leads to discrimination or incites violence. The radio host can legally spew whatever s/he wants, but station management is in no way obligated to give him/her a platform from which to spew his/her hate.

They can. They don't because hate is a strong stance to take. They do offer their displeasure but they don't say hate because that sounds too emotional and irrational.
