Here are my favourite perfumes, they are all quite sweet fragrances though. Perfume is a very personal gift and what one person loves, someone else will hate!
Chanel Coco Mademoiselle - sweet and spicy
Lancome Miracle Forever - fresh with a blackcurrant tone
Lancome Poeme - a heavier perfume, more for evenings
Lancome Miracle So Magic - sweet and fresh
My Mum who's in her sixties loves Clinique Aromatics Elixir and Paris (Yves St Laurent, I think).
Hope this helps!
If you get really stuck Boots do a fragrance gift set that has miniature bottles in for £18.

Get your dad to do a bit of snooping and find out what perfume she already uses. If you don't want to buy exactly the same one, the shop should be able to point you in the direction of similar perfumes.
perfumes smell different on different people, so it's no good just guessing!

A perfume that would make a good christmas gift is Chanel No. 5. It's really good. I got it for my older sister last year. It's great!!

I liked the Ex's perfume.. yeah I said ex.. about the only think i still like about her was the perfume.. Halo by Victoria Secrets... it is about $25 to $45 a bottle, has a nice soft yet catchy smell (all guy terms here sorry)... I hate perfumes that you can smell 15 feet away from a person.. so that is my reasonin for this.... very nice in my opinoin... I dunno if that link will work or not.

All of us fellas have been wondering that for years. Best bet is to ask someone who knows (e.g. her close friend/sister/daughter) or if you are reasonably close then have a look at her dressing table. Don't guess and DON'T ask the shop for perfume for a 40 year old.

I would suggest a couple of different perfumes:
-tresor by lancome (kinda sweet and fruity)
-pleasures by Estee Lauder- Try and get the gift set with body lotion or shower gel
-Miracle by Lancome is another very good seller, that is very clean and refreshing.
These 3 are good b/c they are more youthful than say, "Tommy Girl" or "Curve", but they are not "old-Lady" scents either...kinda good middle ground.

Depends if she likes light or heavy perfumes. I'm in my 40's and I love Angel by Thierry Mugler or Angel Innocent is the lighter one xxxx
