In a nutshell, yes. Women who do not have good prenatal care...including going to monthly appointments and taking their vitamins have much higher rate of miscarriage, low-birth weight, and premature babies. It is worth the money and the extra 30 seconds a day it takes to get the pill down and take care of your baby.

It won't "harm" the baby...but more and more studies show that prenatal vitamins aide the development of a healthy baby. Those vitamins will help YOU out as well. Your body will give most of the vitamins and nutrients you take in (from food) and give it to your baby. YOU will in turn feel sluggish, and weak. I just wonder why you don't want to take them. I have 3 children and in the beginning of all 3, I had morning sickness, and was unable to take my vitamins...but after a month or so, I tried again, and was fine. If that is what's stopping you, I would suggest trying again later. OR if they are costly...you can get prenatal vitamins over the counter that are pretty inexpensive...they don't have to be prescription ones. Good luck!

Probably not. Prenatal vitamins are to REASSURE that the baby gets all the nutrients. Of course, it's EXTREMELY important to take them.. but in cases where prenatal vitamins aren't available, babies were usually never harmed.

In other words, take them. If you absolutely can not take them, there is no need to worry. Before the invention of prenatal vitamins, trillions upon trillions of babies were fine.

You mean skip one or two? No. Skip them altogether? Probably not, as long as you have a perfectly balanced diet.

Unless you are in a special high-risk group, the point of taking a prenatal vitamin is NOT "take this or bad things will happen."

The point is giving your baby the best possible chance of being born healthy. It is insurance in case something goes wrong, like wearing your seat belt.

If anything does go wrong in labor and delivery you will feel much better if you knew you gave your child every possible advantage.Trust me on this.

Folic Acid is a MUST until 3 months (great for babies growth). But prenatal vitamins are optional. They are expensive and almost blackmail you into feeling you ust have them. As long as you eat a healthy diet (Daily, fruit veg and milk), you are fine. I do take my vitamins on days I haven't eaten well (pizza or burgers etc). They are good for your own health too, but don't feel the pressure to HAVE to take them

You should take your prenatal vitamins unless your Dr tells you not to. When you are pregnant your body needs the extra vitamins to care for your child properly.

I didnt with either one of my kids. I went over my due date on both, my first weighed 8.3 lbs, my second weighed 9.4 lbs. There was to much iron in the vitamins for me, they made me very sick. So if you are that concerned tell your doctor. Mine told me to take Flintstone Vitamins

If you don't take your vitamins your baby will take whatever nutrients that it needs from you. Not taking them or eating properly can affect you and your baby.
