Head Gasket- Now of course when they repair they will have to make sure that the head is not warped before installing the new head gasket or the problem will happen again. As well, they will have to check the head for any cracks or fractures.

It may be one of both... It can get directly in through the head gasket and it can leak through the intake and seep in through an intake stroke valve as well... You or them will not know untill they get in it and have a look... Oh yeah... If it's the head gasket they will probably have to replace the intake gasket as well so more than likely both but you may get lucky...

it either means you have a blown head gasket or you have a hair line crack in your head a valve gasket only lets oil escapeon the outside of the cylinder head which will cause smoke on the engine which will smell like burnt oil

Easy one ! Head gasket or worse a crack in the block. The water circulates arrong the cylinder to cool them. The vales just get oil. In ethier case, bad news. Start car shopping..... I ditched my 96Taurus this year as a trade in rather than droop a motor in 10 year old wagon. Down side? The trans on my '02 Cavalier I bought blew after 1000 miles......

Head gasket.
Water does not flow in or around a valve gasket.

If it's a 3.1 or 3.4 chev V-6 it could be the very lame intake gaskets doing it.

My guess is that it has a four cylinder angine? Grand ams are notorious for this problem. Its the head gasket.
