What were the roles of women during the First World War?

Have to write an essay for history, just asking what did they do, how did they contribute etc...

THey sat around and drank alot of beer sitting on the couch watching soap operas and ate Bon-Bons!


Look Folks I was being Sarcastical. The individual has to write a report. They could just as easily have typed that info into a search engine and gotten their results. Now had they asked for personal information from anyone that was either from that time period or knew of someone from that time period who was a Female and what they did that would have been different. Instead they are trying to get an easy answer instead of doing their own work. Hence the sarcastic remark.

because men went to fight in the war:

women went to work in the amunitions factory- many of them died there

women worked on trains, buses were taxi drivers

women built cars

women gave up their long skirts and long hair to work in factories and the materiall and hair helped with the army uniform

other women started the sufferjet movement
