With a Democratic Congress, Bush won't be able to freely do what he wants. It's called a balance of power.

Bush hasn't technically been checked in the past with a Republican Congress! That will change. And because both parties share power....more may actually get done.

So much hyperventilating hyperbole, but not much based on fact.

Bush hasn't abused his authority, by any sane view of the Constitutional Separation of Powers. Nor does Congress or the Courts have the Constitutional authority to impose any additional oversight.

As for the endless war, we had been at war for many years - the Jihadists had been attacking us for years before we figured out we were at war. Even without soldiers abroad, we'd still be at war - with American targets abroad attacked, and probably even more attempts at attacks in the continental US. So blaming Bush for the war the jihadists had been waging with us for years is ludicrous.

As for the idiotic 'authoritarianism' and 'imperial' screechings, that's just a load of hot air, unsupported by reality, facts, evidence or truth.

Whatever. I suppose Clinton gets a pass for his wars, and also for Echelon in your book, because afterall, he had a "D" next to his name.

He hasn't "been checked." He can still send 500,000 troops wherever he wants and veto anything that comes across his desk. That a considerable amount of power.
