Not in my opinion - the number of blatantly racist, anti-Islamic comments that are allowed on Yahoo Answers would clearly suggest that Yahoo operates a very open, tolerant policy.

I think that Yahoo doesnt spend a great deal of time deliberating the appropriateness of the questions or answers reported. I think that they take a brief look, and if it waddles like a duck, its a duck.
No, the people reporting the alleged violations are the ones responsible. Some of the reporting is legitimate, because I too think that many people in the politics forum are abusing the system by posting unprovoked, hate-filled questions or answers, toward what end I haven't the first clue. Others report legitimate questions or answers because they are too shallow to accept an answer they dont personally agree with. All I do know it that every day this goes on the value of this forum decreases, until soon it will be simply a playground for haters shouting out juvenile insults simply for the sake of hurting others. Then Yahoo will shut it down. Unfortunate that every time we are given an opportunity to discuss and debate it turns into this. What a terrible state of affairs.

I think Yahoo!Answers is a platform instigated by the American government and secret services so that they can monitor opinions, and add names to their black list. As far as censorship is concerned - it doesn't work, you only have to read the comments to see that people are offended by a whole cross section of issues and statements. Therefore, the moderators, being human and possessing emotions, will be equally rational/irrational (which ever way your comment is handled) in their appraisal.

If I thought Yahoo Answers practised "Politically Correct" censorship I would not use the site. We all know the house rules and accept them.

It is the users who are guilty of PC censorship since they are the ones who use the report button.
Why? Because sometimes the "TRUTHHURTS"
note; with enough reports Y! pulls the question=censorship

A few characters can't handle the bickering and bantering. I love it and love to have electronic slap fights. I just despise the creeps who think they are funny writing about how they like to do awful sex acts to kids and think they are throwing out a funny comment.
Also, don't like X-rated epithets and slurs. These are the kind of things that should always be reported.
When 3 users report an answer within a few short minutes, they get censored. I don't really think Yahoo reads stuff over either.

No, only because they do not even get to that level of sophistication!
As far as I can see, if anyone complains then they censor you. There is supposed to be an appeals procedure- which I have tried to use- but it seems to be a 'black hole' from which no response or result comes.
It truly damages the integrity of this system if it is subject to such widespread and arbitrary censorship.

yes indeed,
I dont think yahoo monitors manually or with software.
However, if your comments or questions are reported, they are almost certain to be removed regardles of content.
I have had many comments removed that would hardly appear on the "offensive" radar.
If anyone cares to check, there was someone asking for information about an intelligence officer in the british army, i reported this as information that could possibly benefit terrorist activity.
........the question remained.....
the mind boggles.

Dunno...there are some questions and answers that slip through the net - but others that seem as soft as a feather taken away. Suffered a 'rubbing out' (of a question) yesterday - realising the answers I got were nasty and somewhat offensive.

Absolutely! Before the election you'd see conservatives posting blatantly libelous questions aimed at Democrats left on the boards, whereas questions pointing out Republican crimes (actually tried & convicted or pleading guilty) were removed to protect the guilty!
Fortunately, the conservative bias of Yahoo couldn't stop the anger the American people feel toward out corrupt system and its enablers from leading to needed change in the election.
