Manchester United will have to avoid defeat to SL Benfica in order for them to qualify to the knock-out stage. the match will takes place on Wednesday, 6 December 2006. a draw is the minimum requirement for the Red Devils but should SL Benfica won this match, the Portuguese side will qualify instead.

ironically, SL Benfica dump Manchester United out of the competition on the last group match last season when they won 2-1 in Lisbon, sending the Red Devils to the bottom of the group!!
