Generally because they are spoiled rotten when they are younger and there parents give them everything that they want.. they grow up thinking that they don't have to work for what they get.. and are lazy and generally not good for a whole lot..
can't hold a job.. Think that they should be able to stand around and do nothing and get paid for it..
Not how it works in the real world..
I know i have hired these kind of kids to work construction and they have no idea what a days work is..
and they only last about two days if they come back at all the second day..

From the time they were children they were given all they wanted and the more they got the more they want. But when they have to go out in the work a day world they see how hard the dollar is to make ond they can not have everything they want.To teach at an early age the fact everything can not be had makes a wiser and more consevitive person.

I could relate to the question more if you had said "why do SOME people ....."
The answer to my mind is that it is the way it has always been, some people are opportunists and will go through life on the backs of others. The phrase "nothing new under the sun" comes to mind! In the present political climate, our welfare system is seriously out of control, allowing some (but certainly not all) to milk the system for all its worth, even (and I have seen many examples)if it means "lying through your teeth" to get certain benefits. Life!

I don't know but am baffled by this too! I think that society has become so lazy and disposable. We can have anything we want at the drop of a hat! Ready meals, furniture, electrical goods and cars on credit, washing machines, tumbledriers and dishwashers tp make life easier for us. People expect this as the norm and forget that we should work hard for what we buy and then appreciate it! And we're sending the wrong messages to our kids by showering them with material things that they don't appreciate but they still want more more more! It's getting ridiculous. The less people have to do, the less they want to do, or expect to have to do!

Is Mark really that naive? When you have welfare families for generations, and they can get food, housing, medical care, and other benefits without working, then they begin to think that it is normal.
There are lots of white trash in the US that fall into this, and many of one particular other race. Exact statistics are difficult to come by as it's politically incorrect to tell us how our tax dollars are being spent to produce a$sses the width of the Mississippi River.

Look at the statistics, most are of parents who lived on govt. assistance all their lives. They are conditioned to go to the welfare office for food stamps, the Medicaid office for health care. They grow up thinking that is where "the check " comes from.

Technological comforts, Government payouts & human rights. The days of having to go to the toilet outside, lack of food, employers having the power & having to fight in a trench with mud & deasie are long gone.
