I had my daughter done before 6 months....less pain, because they don't know what is going on, the thing is, doing it that young, you HAVE to make sure you use the ointment they give you at least 3 times a day! Good luck, i bet she will look beautiful! Happy Holidays!

You can pierce your baby's ear at anytime..however, if they are under 3 months of age they need to have their DPT shot prior to the piercing. I manage an accessories store and train my employes to pierce ears. From my experience, infants are easier to pierce than say a 2 year old. I would recommend doing it while your child is still an infant. Children tend to pull earrings out (even though the backs lock) and oftentimes, toddlers and older children will not allow you to change them after removing the studs causing the ear to close. I've repierced a lot of children because of this. I hope this helps. For reassurance, they only cry for a short time (usually less than a minute). The discomfort is relatively mild, less that a shot. There is no pain afterward. Infants should always be pierced with 14k gold since this is nickle free and reduces the chances for infection. If you have any other questions, please let me know!

That's a good question and given that it is a contraversol topic you will get alot of different opinions. Some people are against piercing baby's ears until they are old enough to ask for it to be done and others get it done right away(my cousins kids had it done at 6 weeks)I plan to have my daughters ears pierced for her first birthday which is in a little over 2 weeks. I think that you have to decide for yourself when the best time is.

I heard from the My Babies Doctor, they like you to wait till she is 6 months to 1 Year. Now the ear piercing shops, Do it as young as 4 months.
I had my daughters done at 2 months. They did it cause her ear lobes were floppy. Most babies have small very tight ear lobes and later they loosen up and droop a little more.
My other 2 daughters I had done at 6 months.
The only problem I had with this was, once they reaches toddler age, My daughter ( one of them only) Would pull her earrings out and she would try to eat them. So I removed hers.
If you do get her ears pierced, always watch that the earrings are not to tight, and always keep cleaning them and turning them to prevent infection.

I pierced my daughter's ears at 8 weeks. Some people said wait and let her decide but I think this worked out better. They also said it would hurt too bad. She cried for maybe a minute and a half. She doesn't fidget with them or anything because she's used to them and that scared me because if we did it later they would be knew to her and she would.

Why would you want to have a babies ears pierced? I think it looks trashy on a baby, bot cute. Wait until they are in 5th grade. It gives them something to look forward to.

I say the earlier the better. They wont remember any pain anyway. I mean we circumcise baby boys early on why not Peirce ears. Plus, you all know that if you cant tell if the baby is a boy or girl- pierced ears helps. ;)

most health experts say wait til they are a couple years old for health reasons. they say that when they are older their ear lobes are bigger and easier to pierce. But some parents pierce their babies ears at 2 weeks. I waited until my daughter was 6 months old to pierce her ears. And she is fine

This always kicks up such a huge fuss. It's a personal decision and places like Piercing Pagoda at the mall will do it for babies 2 months and up. Be sure to use at LEAST 14ct gold to prevent an allergic reaction (Piercing Pagoda will only use it anyway) and be sure to take good care of them and keep them clean :)
