I was at horchow website and they have this most beautiful table runner. I put "beaded" in their search and found it. I would love to have that but would more so love to make it than buy it.

I saw those too and they are beautiful! I'm like you and would love to learn how to make one of those Horchow runners. And, if I learn how in time, have the patience and money, I'd like to try to make one for a Christmas gift with a snowflake pattern. Fun :0)!

I searched on the web and found it was difficult to get information on this lovely art, however did find some info that might be helpful.

The first source mentioned gluing beads on fabric which doesn't sound too difficult but might not give you the look you are after.

I finally went to Amazon.com and looked up books on beaded embroidery. There were several books but the three listed below seemed the most helpful:

Bead Creative Art Quilts
by Nancy Eha
Designer Bead Embroidery: 150 Patterns and Complete Techniques (Paperback)
by Kenneth D King
Beading on Fabric: Encyclopedia of Bead Stitch Techniques
by Larkin Jean Van Horn

Hope you find this information helpful!
Good Luck and Happy Beading!

Beaded Table Runner

All you need is a yard of a fabric you love. Cut it in half down the length ( most table runners are about 20-22" wide ) and sew then together at one of the short ends. Another yard of a liner fabric such as polished cotton cut and sewn the same way would then be stitched to the top fabric....place the two fabrics right sides together and stitch along the sides. Cut both ends into points and stitch one end completely closed and the other closed except for about 8" then use this opening to turn the whole thing right side out and iron the seams flat. Hand stitch the opening. Get enough beaded trim ( available in any fabric store or department )to go all the way around, about 6 yards, and use fabric glue to glue the ribbon part of the trim to the underside of the edge. Add a thick tassel to each point and it is finished.
