I completely agree. My thing is who the hell told those people their critique is better than mine? like I wonder how the hell they choose those idiots. I trust the general public before I will trust a man who probably didn't even take time to understand the movie. to hell with them! the Movie Goers, especially the ones that watch a variety of movies are the best critics!!!

Totally agree! If a movie critic (at least a certain movie critic duo I know) says a movie is 2 thumbs up and a must see etc., I avoid it simply because every single movie I've seen by these guys rated at 2 thumbs has been the most pathetic movie on film.
Of course there are exceptions and every so often the assessment they give is actually decent but those aren't often occurrences. Also, if I see a trailer that hypes a movie over the top, I usually find that the trailer was the better of the two and could have saved some money by not seeing it.
Odd but public opinion is still the more accurate of the two critiquing methods I find.

MOST movie critics have education and training in the movies (as well as other art forms and literature) and have seen more movies in the past year than we will see in our lifetimes. However, most studios make movies (generally) for audiences -- because audiences shell out the money.
Critics play a very important rol -- they summarize movies and let you know what they're about to help you make an informed decision about whether you want to spend your $10 on this flick. If you don't like the high-art-type critics like A.O. Scott from the New York Times, then don't read his reviews. If everyone did that, the Times would fire him and get someone else.
There are a number of critics who have a more populist bent -- check out http://www.rottentomatoes.com to see a good collection of every critic that has reviewed a particular movie.
And, by the way, critics aren't telling you what you will or won't like, they're telling you whether they can recomend the movie to you or not. It's THEIR recommendtion based upon THEIR opinion that, we hope, they can justify in their review.
The interesting thing is that we have critics for everything -- food, theater, MUSIC, art, literature, even cars and consumer goods. Oftentimes, their reviews are even MORE removed from popular opinion (B. Spears' albums aren't exactly critically acclaimed, but they sure sell!) BUt no one says that those critics should be sacked. Give movie critics a break. Find the ones you like, or ignore them altogether.

Movie goers are movie fanatics... They will watch and appreciate any movie... Whatever is on screen, they are there to watch it... I have a friend who loves Arnold Schwarsxzdxnjkkddnegoorzneggerrrr... Whatever movie is about the guy, she'll watch... Whether its a flop or a hit...
Movie critics are far different... They are picky and choosy... That is why they make unreasonable comments... Its not that their standards are high... But they are really hard to please...
I take movie critics opinion at the back of my mind. And hope they are correct. But if i like the move... I'll promote it and watch it...
And yes... People review is still the best...

I don't know of anybody who reads a critic's review of a movie for any reason other than a synopsis of the film. I honestly believe the adage: "Those who can't....critique." I wish the studios would cut them off at the knees and just stop previewing the movies for them. I'd rather discuss a film with a friend whose seen it already, anyway.

Hollywood is catering to the movie goers. That is why movies lately are so awful and unoriginal. Lowest common denominator.
