Most men I know say they hate Christmas, they all have different reasons, or should I say excuses I think it's just the fact they have to take the time to pick out something that their women would like, and it's just too much work for them!! They don't pay attention to what you say or do all year long, then have to try to pick something out that you'll love! I know there are some men out there that are fantastic at it, and actually love picking out presents....but I would just like a poll on thoes who don't. Give their excuse for hating it also. My husband said he didn't celebrate because his dad died in December..... of course it was 30 years before we met, (and heaven forbid you didn't buy him something!) but that was his excuse. What's your mans excuse?

and for david, I'm a widow now, but it never was the expence or the gift. It was just the fact that he could take the time to think of me and pick something out for me that I would love, just like I took the time to do it for him. Money was never an object, but I'm not surprised you would think that.

I am a man, May I answer? I love Christmas, but you are right about the excuses and the reasons.

I know this question was directed at women, but I couldn't help but address your question.

I for one, love Christmas. I love buying gifts for my girl that I know will surprise her and that she will be excited about. Giving to her is the best part of Christmas. Over the last three years I have surprised her with a trip to be the Trainer for a Day at Discovery Cove in Orlando Florida, jewelry, and last year a ten day trip to Ireland. Of course I have bought her other things that she has asked for as well. But these were the big gifts that she had no idea she was getting and thus were a complete surprise to her.

She has gotten to the point now that she tells me she looks forward to my surprising her more than anything else at Christmas time. She knows its coming, but never knows what it is going to be. This extra anticipation just adds a level of excitement to the Christmas season for her, and as she puts it, makes her feel like a little kid again.

So, I am sorry you are stuck with someone who doesn't enjoy Christmas. But don't paint all men with the same broad brush. Not all of us are so thoughtless when it comes to giving to others during the holidays.

I am so glad you are writing for Cosmo !!!. I just hope you are ready for a back-lash of criticism from the guys. Sounds to me that you are a greedy little ***** who puts the materialistic values of Christmas ahead of it's true meaning.
Take this opportunity to enjoy each others company. Shop together and point out things to him that you really want. But limit yourself to no more than two must have items. Be reasonable. Know before hand how much he is able to spend on you. Then be sure to go to church together and give thanks to the Lord for giving you a guy who would put up with you ! Maybe his biggest EXCUSE is that he doesn't thing YOU deserve anything ! Lots of luck little girl.
