There were two groups of Filipinos revolting against the Spanish: the Propaganda/Propagandistas, who used their writing; and the KKK/Katipuneros who used violence.
The reasons why the propaganda failed:
1. They weren't united
2. They had limited, if any, funds. The rich who used to support them stopped sending money
the reasons why the KKK failed:
1. Not enough weapons
2. Someone told the Fraile (the priests) about the KKK
3. Their leaders were caught and arrested
And the Gomburzas (Gomez, Burgos, Zamora). Zamora was innocent. They were after "Jose" Zamora, not Jacinto (the one who was killed) and there was a big misunderstanding with a gambling invitation he received.

In studying the history of the Philippines there has been major clashes of why revolts failed. During the Spanish Era, there had been separations among the Filipinos during that time. There was the rich Filipinos who, like Jose Rizal, got good education and there was the poor laborers and farmers like the likes of Andres Bonifacio who relied on the man power and sword in efforts to free the Filipinos of such cruel Spanish rule. Mean while, Jose Rizal the illustrado, fought using the pen and tried to make reforms and only reforms so there will be lesser death among Filipinos, he even went to Spain to make newpapers that he had been circulating in order to let the king of Spain be notified by such cruelty the governor generals are doing to the Filipinos. But by bad chance, the funds and money coming from the Philippines took too long to reach Spain so Rizal discontinued the newspapers. In the Philippines Bonifacio still kept fighting and as a result the Spanish retaliate and some of the plans Rizal was to make is now been open to the Spanish. Rizal went back to the Philippines as a wanted person, he was caught and killed for writing bad literary pieces that targeted Spanish cruelty. Rizal is killed, he was to be shot. Instead of choosing to make reforms, Bonifacio lead the Filipinos to war yet some Filipinos did not want him as a leader anymore since the death of Rizal and so the Filipinos has again been divided and now lacks the unity to compose even the easiest revolts until the General Emilio Aguinaldo famous for his winning tactics came (another educated man) to unite Filipinos and win the war since Bonifacio lacked skills to even win a battle. Every battle Aguinaldo fought won till everything was cut because of the intervention of the Americans when Spain sold the Philippines to the U.S.

it's because of the attitude and the twisted sense of nationalism. filipinos as a nation is, was and continues to be divided. unity is only for short term events . Edsa Revolutions were both successes and failures, while they served the purpose of getting rid of unwanted leaders, they didn't united the people after the event to pull the nation forward. With these events, we can see how divided our early leaders are. From Rizal, Bonifacio, del Pilars, Aguinaldos, etc.
