Carry on what you are doing, you are doing fine. Milk itself is NOT enough for a growing baby and you are introducing semi solids at the right age and at the appropriate rate. My boy is 6 months old and is thriving. There is no way he could live on milk alone, he is in his baby walker and is using up a lot of energy pushing himself around, therefore milk only isn't enough. It is normal for the baby to have a bottle after solids, like it is normal for you and me to have a glass of water after dinner. Or try giving your baby some baby juice to keep the vitamin intake up as well. Babies at that age need at least 500ml of milk per day.
Recipe for you to try - mashed potatoes with milk to make it smooth, add carrots. 'Scraped' juicy pears in a bowl, add apricot flakes and some pear juice to adjust texture. Give it another month and try pasta as well.
People will have their opinions, and every child is an individual and has its own hunger needs. Hope this helps.

I gave my daughter lots of peas, sweet potatoes, and carrots at that age because she LOVED them. Adults lean towards giving fruit because they don't like veggies but at least give her a chance to try the veggies. I think at that age my daughter at 2 8 oz bottles one when she woke up and another when she went to sleep. Then she ate like an ounce of food with a 7 oz bottle. She did that twice a day so she had four total feedings. 2 oz of food and 30 oz of milk and I gradually increased that based on her needs. At this point she eats more chunky food, about 10 oz more of milk and foods she can feed herself.

She needs regular bottle feeds - 4 or 5 every day - as many as she had before u started solid food. Her body still needs lots of milk.
Take it slowly with solid food - just fruits - apples, pears, bananas, peaches and veg - carrot, courgette, pumpkin, butternut squash etc very soft and runny.
Ask your health visitor at the baby clinic for more details.

i think she is a little young, she needs to be able to manage holding a cup, before she is totally weaned, but yes, you can start giving her little sips out of a small cup,, i would wait and cut down the # of bottles a day, very slowly, really would wait till she is approaching one year old, she has to get her fluids in, its not just a matter of nutrition,,, you can give her the baby cereal, and the veg/fruit, just make sure you add in one new thing at a time, say per week, so you will know if she has an allergy to it,,,,,,, watch for rashes/diareeha (sp)

5 months is still early to be weaning. Certainly her milk feeds should be before, not after her fruit/veg, so that she doesn't fill up on an unbalanced diet. Don't lose any bottle feeds for a good while yet.

You really aught to get some professional advice on this because I am sure that you will get as many opinions as answers, and that's really what you will get, opinions. I could tell you the way I think it aught to be done, but your local GP's office should have a well-baby clinic or at least know of one that can give you real information. I do know that at that age they should be given mostly bottle and only a little bit of solids.

ps, she should be given as many bottles as she wants at that age

Most babies have as many bottles as they want until 12 months.

Breast milk or infant formula is extremely important to a baby's developing brain.

Much too young to substitute food for formula.

At five months milk is still very important. Many women still breast feed at 6 months. I wouldn't push it just yet, perhaps look at limiting to nap times when 1 year.

Basically, your child has a good idea of what its body needs and milk is good for them anyway. My four year old still has milk at bed time.

Formula or breastmilk should still be the main part of her diet.
Solids foods are just for fun or practice at this age.
