Wrote this as a short dairy while my wife was pregnant

In your mommy’s tummy you've just started to grow,
At the beginning of your journey only nine months left to go.
Not even yet a pinky toe or even a little hand,
But you have already managed to make our parents grand.

We take you to the doctor to check everything is OK,
The midwife says your mommy and you are fine in everyway.
You’re only a few weeks old and your mommy’s started to show,
You’re either more than one or you just want room to grow.

We've started taking pictures every 4 weeks to the day,
You’re not even born yet and loved in everyway.
Off to the hospital at 3 months for your first scan,
The sonagrapher says you’re a singleton so we can now start to plan.

We see you for the first time moving on the screen,
You’re tiny with arms and legs no bigger than a kidney bean.
Both beaming with pride and love in our hearts,
We could not wish for a better start.

The sonagrapher prints us a photo only 1 no more,
We say we've got lots of orders so can we please have four.
Your first little photo takes pride of place on my desk,
Next to your beautiful mommy wearing her wedding dress.

There’s lots of work to be done the house is a real state,
It may even help if you can hold on and be a little late.
Your grandad Taff and I start building you a room
We’re both working very hard I'm sure it will be finished soon.

As you continue to grow we wonder what you are,
Boy or Girl doesn't matter to us you'll be our little star.
Back to the doctors for a checkup this time it’s a real treat,
It’s the first time your mommy and I get to hear your little heart beat.

We start thinking of names for you our bundle of joy,
We already have lots for a girl but none if you’re a boy.
There’s not long to go before we find out,
Whether you’re a little princess or have a little spout.

Back to the hospital at 20 weeks our heads are in a whirl,
The sonagrapher says you’re a little angel our precious baby GIRL.
Now you’re getting bigger you can even hear,
We’ve narrowed your names down to Emelie or Mia

Your mommy now gets aches and pains her trousers are no longer loose,
You’re even getting a bed time story each night written by Dr. Seuss.
We can feel you moving your kicking all day,
I just hope your practicing your round-house kick to keep the boys away.

Christmas morning is here and you have lots of presents under the tree,
You haven't stopped moving yet it's as if you are trying to break free.
Mommy and I think you already know what day it is,
And you’re trying to wake us up so that we go down stairs and open your prezzies.

You have lots of new things most of them pink and girly,
Let’s hope you don't come out a boy all tough and burley.
If the hospital has got it wrong and you are a boy our little shipmate,
You will have to spend your first weeks dressed in pink and hope you grow up straight.

Its new year again and we celebrate in high town,
Auntie Claire says I need a flower girl soon can I put baby Lloyds name down?
That’s the second booking you've had the first was for bridesmaid,
Your calendars nearly full and you haven't even been weighed.

Your Mommy goes for another check up this time she takes Grandma Chris
The Midwife measures her tummy and says you’re just the right size a perfect little-miss
Back to work we go after the Christmas cheer,
Less than 3 months left we can't believe your almost here!

Your Mommy has been doing really well she is making you and I proud,
If you could choose any mommy you would pick her out of the biggest crowd.
Your nursery is finally ready it’s brand new and free from mess,
It’s the nicest room in the house fit for a princess.

Your mommy has now broken up from work that means the time is near,
Only one more payday and hair cut to go and you will be here.
The Doctor says you’re back to front and blocking the exit with your bum,
You either want to stay where you are or just get your sense of direction from your MUM.

There is now only one way out the surgeon will have to cut your moms tummy,
Don’t worry, she is secretly pleased and finds it really funny.
We’re given a date, the 13th of March, but you won’t be a Frankenstein’s bride
13 is unlucky for some, but not for us and now only fills our hearts with pride.

The day is finally here, and we can’t wait to hold and greet you
9.59 You pop out and say “how do you do it’s nice to meet you”.
We can’t believe how gorgeous you are, as cute as a bug’s ear
You’re no longer “the bump” but our perfect, sweet daughter Mia.

The first one I ever wrote was for a high school assignment:

Shiny silver circle
Largest of the four
The head of the man
Who won the Revolutionary War
The eagle's flying free
For the United State's liberty
Two of them are worth
A can of pop for me
