Don't worry about it, a drama class it the best place to be to get rid of your shyness, your teacher should be able to show you techniques to help with your shyness and your probably not the only one in class who's shy, stick with the class and be brave.

I used to be in drama class and I was very shy at the time. Shy people tend to have a lot of talent, if only they can manage to find a way to let it out. What I would do is pretend that I was alone. I would locate several places in the room I was in and keep my eyes in those places. It would look like I was looking at other people, but I was really concentrating on empty space.
Another trick I used was to go through my life pretending that I was the subject of a TV show and didn't know it. (Kind of like that Jim Carey movie, "The Truman Show". I didn't like it too well, but it illustrates my point well enough.)
You can also see if you can find an ally, of sorts, in your drama class that you can confide your shyness to. This person could be your anchor for a while and you could look to that person for a supportive smile or nod whenever you start feeling overwhelmed.
Good luck with your drama class and overcoming that shyness! It's not easy to live with, I know. My parents took me to several doctors when I was younger and after a few evaluations, they were always informed that I was a "hopeless" case. But you know what? I overcame it. No one who knows me now would ever guess how shy I was. So I know you can overcome it, too. Again, best of luck to you!

I used to be shy and got over it by going to drama classes! I picked Drama as one of my GSCE options - all the rest were academic subjects so I thought I'd have a skive! I ended up in a class where I didn't know anyone, with all the 'cool' kids and I thought it was going to be awful - I ended up being the only one in my year to get an A. Stick with the class, learn to be a good actor so you can act brave when you feel shy - I still do this now. I found humour a really good tool too. I made friends in the class because I was able to show of my sense of humour once I got more confident and people starting liking me because I was funny - it was such a boost to my confidence to actually get picked to be in people's groups or to have people arguing over who got to be my partner.
Identify your strength and put it to use in your class - don't focus on your weakness, shyness, focus on a strength you have!

Two options 1) leave the class 2) get over your shyness
You just have to decide is you can achieve 2) quickly enough.

Get over it. If you can share this with the world at large, then you can get over your shyness in your drama class.

You'll have to try and combat that! Imagine you're the most confidet person in the world! If you believe it enough, you'll be able to get into role and noone will notice. You can then just be shy when you're not acting!!

you won't survive in a drama group if you can't express yourself and give everything a go! Don't worry about letting yourself go and having a laugh you'll gain more confidence in yourself and respect in the group as well! Go for it!
