I live in Australia and we are blamed for what our ancestors did to our Aborigines. It was absolutely horrible what they did to these people and I feel ashamed of the humilation and the pain the Aboriginal people suffered at the hands of the white man. I am white myself, but I cannot take back the crimes of my ancestors...I happen to believe that what they did was wrong. I will openly admit this, but I really do not like being placed into a basket because what you are really asking all people to do is pay and pay and pay and pay. You will still want us to pay 2,000 years from now. I know there is still a lot of discrimination, but I think the majority of people now just want to live in peace, no matter what the colour of our skins are. So maybe your expectations just add to discrimination...Maybe you are discriminating against us because of the colour of our skins and what our ancestors did. I didnt do anything horrible to the Aborignal people and I honestly dont know what I can do to make it right. It happened and there is nothing I can do about it and I really dont want to be discriminated agains because of what I had no control over.

No, because the people who are alive today are not the ones who did those horrible things to the Native Americans. They had no control over what their (or other people's) ancestors did back then. The people involved are all dead and nobody should be made responsible for somebody else's crimes or punished for something they didn't do and had no control over.

Here we go again, it's all the White mans fault. Let's look at how the Indians treated each other. The war partys to take slaves, running Buffalo over cliffs by the thousands. The list goes on.

Star -- can't you see he's an Indian brave? Chief Slapaho? Very clever.

In any event, isn't everyone pretty much the white man nowadays, no matter what color our skin is? Everybody is somebody's white man. And I like getting holiday pay.

I am part Native American (1/4) and I don't think that is necessary.

What happened HUNDREDS OF YEARS AGO is horrible but it happened HUNDREDS OF YEARS AGO. We shouldn't forget the past, by any means, but why punish today's society for the crimes of their ancestors?
PS. "Chief Slapaho"? Gimme a break.

Yeah, that's a real mature, adult idea. Punish and humiliate a group of people who had nothing to do with something that happened hundreds of years ago -- just because of the color of their skin.

How very racist of you.

I don't think so racebaiter. There is no reason to punish someone from 8 generations ago, just as you wouldn't want your great great great great great grandchildren punished for the stupid things you say or do today.
