The idea of masturbation being a sin comes from a misinterpretation of a Biblical story.
At the time of the story, if a woman's husband died and they didn't have any children, the dead husband's brother was obligated to go into the widow and have sex with her. The reason was so that the child would carry on the dead husband's name and so keep that name from dying out, or that line of the family from dying out.
Onan was obliged to go into his sister-in-law and fulfill his obligation to his dead brother, but Onan didn't want a child from her so he withdrew from her body and ejaculated on the ground. Some versions have it that he masturbated himself so that he wouldn't have any sperm to ejaculate inside her with, but that doesn't make too much sense.
So because the story was part of the Bible someone somewhere decided that "spilling your seed on the ground" was a sin and that's why this misinformed call it a "sin" to this day.

Shouldn't you be posting this in Religion and Spirituality? However, since you ask, a "sin" is an act of disobedience to Biblical law. The Bible forbids any form of sexual pleasure unless it can result in pregnancy, that includes oral, anal, masturbation, couples who can't have children, and the use of contraceptives. So, yes, masturbation is a sin. Those anti-sex rules are why I'm a Pagan.

Playing with yourself is not a sin....its an act of relieve for stress and an assurance that you do not get blue balls...otherwise it can be painful if you do not relieve yourself..besides your balls produce millions of sperm each and everyday for the rest of your life...Enjoy it while you can.....use the good old reliable hand and come and come like theirs no tomorrow...

No . Not at all. Infact its the best safest way to relive oneself. Thinking of others while doing it yourself is fine & healthy . You can do as much as you prefer to & as long as it does not interfer with your life.

More importantly: WHO CARES? It feels good, so I don't give a damn if it's a sin... God wouldn't make us so good at masturbation if we weren't supposed to do it.
