Yes.
But in our world there is no way to do this.So we non(or former) smokers have to put up with it or go to places it is banned.

Yes, I believe so. For most non-smokers, it's very distracting and unpleasant. And it gets into their clothes. It's the equivalent of someone walking up to me in public and running mud into my clothing and hair. Actually, that would be preferable. Mud comes out easier. For people who are allergic to cigarettes (like me), people who smoke in public can be deadly.
I personally would like to see smoking banned altogether, but even I realize it's not going to happen. The economy of several states depends on tobacco. Besides, in the long run, making smoking illegal would cause more problems than it would solve. When it comes right down to it, what do I care if someone smokes in the privacy of their own home? No one's forcing me to visit or to get close to them in public.
However, I feel I have a right to go out in public and not fear that my lungs will close up all of a sudden because someone happens to be smoking close by. I know, it sounds crazy, but I really cherish my right to breathe. I just have this weird notion that a person's right to breathe trumps a person's right to smoke.

I think that there are places where it should be banned and others where it shouldn't depends on the type of business. I don't feel it should be banned in ones own home or outside or in their car. I don't allow people to smoke in my home, but thats because its my home and my daughter is allergic to cig smoke. we used to go to bingo quite frequently- the place was so bad with smoke that she would have to take an allergy pill before going, one while we were there and one after getting home. we quit going to that particular bingo place because of it.

Public places, sure.
Not privately owned restaurants and bars. Should be up to the owner whether or not to. If he wants an "all smoking" club, it should be his decision; he's paying for the permits, the rent, the salaries....and if people don't like his place, they won't go there.
I have been a nonsmoker for over 18 years, and hate the filthy habit, but I also have been a businessman, and hate government control in these areas.

No. If the government decides to ban smoking in public places then they might as well make illegal which they would never do cause of all the money they make on the taxes they put on cigarettes

The only places you can smoke publicly in Maine are cigarette stores. There's not even smoking allowed in bars!

Smoking should be illegal any place that non-smokers go. It should only be allowed in "smoke-easys".
Personally I would legalize throwing water on smokers who assault non-smokers with their filth. (It makes a hell of a lot more sense than assaulting flag burners.) I knock cigarettes out of the hands of ashsoles who smoke in my presence.
And to any idiot who calls non-smokers "smoke nazis," remember that the smokers are the ones producing toxic gases in enclosed spaces.

Without question YES. There is no way a smoker can keep their suicidal activity to themselves. How you treat your own body is your business but to inflict the poison you enjoy on other people is not acceptable. If you want to inject nicotine, snort it up your nose or chew it fine but do not blow your filthy smoke over others.
