I have just applied for a job in Amsterdam. Can anyone give any advice? IF I get an interview what tips might you suggest? Whats it like as a place to live (I've been there once as a tourist)? Are their international schools?

Dirty country with dog sh....in all the parks! Disgusting. Pickpockets in buses. Sex shops on the high street in Amsterdam!!! What do you want to go there for? Yuck! I have travelled to loads of countries and this has to be the worst of all!!!Even the so called third world countries were better than there!!!

Yes there are international schools, there is a good book which will help you, "Knowing the Netherlands", gives loads of tip fpr foreigners. Amsterdam is a very lively exciting city to live in and contrary to the foreigners view it is not all drugs and sex. In any interaction with the Dutch you will find that they are very direct, almost to the point of rudeness, so don't be surprised at some of the questions in the interview. Good luck I loved my 15 years in the country.

I also recommend directing questions to expatica.com...it was invaluable to me in my move. (Just ignore some of the negative people on there, many of us are happy here.) Also, check out the book "The UnDutchables." It is a very true, funny insight into the Dutch culture and what to expect from them.
Also, I know there are international schools. One in Amstelveen, at least.... (I assume, of course, the Hague as well.)
