....besides the price. My husbands younger brother (15 years old)wants an IPOD for Christmas. We can't find any within our price budget. They are like $250 and MP3 players are about $100 less. Is there really much of a difference or does he just want the IPOD because its more expensive?

And iPod is Apple's brand of an mp3 player. But read reviews of mp3 players and you'll see iPods at the top of the list...and for a good reason. They are good. The only thing I don't like about them is that you can't replace the battery when it eventually dies.

They are the same. Some certain "features" may differ, but technically an IPod IS an MP3 player, Apple just made their MP3 more distinct and commercialized by calling theirs an IPod.

an ipod is a 'cool' MP3 player..it has all the same features but that certain cool factor of an 'ipod' is there

the diff is an ipod can store music,movies,pictures,podcasts and your own info but normal mp3 players can only store music,nothin else
