You can take the bulb out. But I wouldn't advise it. If the light is staying on, you have a problem. The people you are taking it to don't have a clue. Take it to a qualified tech. Ask for certifications.
Some times it's cheaper to go to a dealer. Experimenting can get expensive.

I have a highlander and my wife took to the dealer. They showed her how to disable the light (same process they use once they get the unsuspecting customer into the dealership). I forget the process she told me now but it's something like press and hold in the odometer button for trips while turning to the acessories position of the ignition switch.
I think if you call or visit the dealer, they will eventually (if you are persistent) tell you how to disable it, or suspend it until the next cycle rolls around. There may even be a web-site that discusses your particular model. Each model auto is different though, I know BMWs used to require a flashlight looking device that would plug into a special socket mounted on the engine block.

Anything is possible but it is still telling you something is wrong.Your car is still a new car and worth the cost of repair at the dealer. Have the dianoise it and write it down, then take it somewhere else for repair.

You need to get your hands on a OBDII Diagnostic Scanner which will read and clear real time parameters and trouble codes not to mention turn off your check engine light :) They are readily available in most automotive stores and can be found for relatively cheap (<$50 depending on brand/type). I hope this helps and that the light is nothing serious, best of luck!

I usually put a small piece of electrical tape over the offending light. I also keep a constant check on my m.p.g. and if there is no significant change I assume things are still pretty much normal.
