That's how we're programmed. To look for desirable traits in other people (not necessarily beauty) to pass on to the possible offspring.

Because this is what the media has pummeled into us to believe is the most important trait in another person. The obsession with obtaining the beautiful body and image is placed above all other goals in life as the most important in the Western world and as a result, it's what most people who can't think for themselves look for in other people as desirable.

That's how society has programmed them, through media and even the parents.
It really is sad, cause if the world only cares about what is outside what will happen when that beauty fades, what will be left of that person if they truly believe that only outside beauty counts.

im not sure and i dont think it is right
but i guess the first thing people think when they look at u is what u look like not how nice you are or what is on the inside

its like steak
if u look on the surface of it ,it might look good but until u taste it u dont know if it really is
but if u look at it and it does not look good but u taste it and it taste wonderful that is what people are supposed to do

this example is saying that if u dont try to communicate and talk or be friends with that person instead of just saying they look good then u will never know what kind of person they are and might be missing out for a wonderful friend

so yeah i hope this helps =D

Natural instincts ! It takes a perception and patience beyond just the visual appreciation to notice and look for beauty deeper than the other beauty.

Despite our best poetic yearnings, one never sees anything 'inside'. The 'outside' is the only way to infer what a person is like.

It's not inconsistent that a serial killer should have a wildly different and beautiful interior life.

We're never interested in that-- we think we are, but our expectations of a person are fixed by our interactions with them and never psychically.
