yes it will until you change the settings in start up. i have the same thing it is updating every time you log on. you can set it to update at specific times when in settings. its a good antivirus though good choice.

You have a good antivirus program, and several postings have told you how to set it so it doesn't start every time your computer is booted up, whch is time-consuming and very annoying. AVG's current free version will be replaced in January 2007. They are NOT discontinuing their free antivirus, they are upgrading it.

in schedule column set the setting as u need its now set to (scan computer in particular time but at that time computer is off scan when it starts) disable this feature and scan manualy when u need to scan comp.

Look in the preference section of AVG also they are about to finish their free program soon and it will not be abled to be updated.
