Many pro trainers prefer training intact males, at least to the higher levels of whatever dicipline they are training. This is mostly because you don't have the hormonal changes to deal with, and the dog dosen't leave training for breeding, etc. Personally, I have trained some awesome females, but they tend to be more self serving and get bored easily when you get to more tedious stuff at higher levels of, let's say, field trianing. The males you can train for longer periods, and will not get bored as fast. I think sometimes it takes longer to train them, but when they have it, you won't have to go back and retrain. I guess though the exception is the norm, I really think it hs more to do with the quality of breeding, and individual temperment of the dog when training in specific deciplines and at the higher levels. It is a FACT that in many diciplines you have more dogs with high level titles than females. For just basic training, though, I don't really think gender is of much consequence regarding a dog's ability to learn, or its sensitivity to the owner.

I have a Pit bull / Mastiff mix. It's a boy, and he's the coolest pup ever.

And I know, pit bulls have a really bad reputation nowaday. But really, they're very loyal dogs. (Beautiful breed, too.) And my dog.. He's nothing but a big baby.

I have a boy and he is so adorable. He's all black with a curled tail, half Lab half Chow with purple spots on his tongue. He likes to lay on people and if you are sitting on the floor he tries to get in your lap, and he leans on you when he is sitting next to you.
