Yes it will. U can see the usage of the memory usage of ur computer in task manager when ur computer is running. U can get it on screen by pressing control, alt and del key at the same time. If ur usage is almost equal to 100%, u will definitely find improvement by increasing ram.

It may help you to run more "heavy" applications, maybe some kind of super-games or Windows-Vista, although it's hard to find a game that requires more than 500Mb of RAM. You can run Task-Manager and exemine whether you usualy use more than 512Mb of RAM, If not - than you wont have any better performance with 1Gb nither.
