I guess some people are just already looking forward to the holidays and getting excited and want to start early. I've even noticed that a lot of people are saying "happy holidays" already.
Personally I think it's too early for all this stuff and it kind of kills the fun of Christmas to have everything decorated and Christmas songs playing so early, because by the time it's Christmas people are already tired of it, it's not so special anymore. I think it would be nicer if everyone waited until December like they used to.
By the way, they started decorating shopping malls in my area in late October. I wonder how long it will be until we'll bump into Christmas trees in August.

People put their decorations up early for two reasons. The first is excitement as others have mentioned. The second is that with some poorer families they look forward to times such as christmas and easter as this is when they can celebrate where they don't have too much opportunity throughout the rest of the year.

I always put my Christmas tree and d3ecorations up on November the 26th. My son born on that day and he was born dead, had to be brought back with shocks to his heart and i was devastated, not knowing if he was going to make it or not, so begged my mum to put Christmas tree up so he would make it. It was just a feeling that he would and he did. So it became a tradition in the family, reminds us of such a traumatic time with such a wonderful result! My baby boy is 25 now!
But i also know of a family in Scotland who love Christmas so much ... They keep the tree and what not up throughout the year! Now that would kill Christmas for me!

Well why would anyone mind that people started a celebration early? It is as if the population were turning into Ebenezer Scrooge 'Bah, humbug!'

I must admit I myself am one of these people.
And I do it cos I love christmas and so does my four year old boy..
Anyway the time goes round so quick that it actually only feels like a couple of weeks that theyve been up...
Oh and Happy new year to you...and happy easter too

Guess they just get so excited they have to decorate their house up, I'm a bit superstitious about it so would never put any Christmas decorations up until December 1st, its supposed to be bad luck to have them up before that date.

I plan to put up mine this weekend. I never put up anything until after Thanksgiving. I think it's silly to put up Christmas stuff before then!! Enjoy one holiday, then move to the next!!
