I've recently enjoyed "Nature Boy" and "In a Sentimental Mood". Any suggestions for other great pieces and muscisians.

If you're into the simply written songs with a big heavy tone on the sax, you'll probably like these great albums...

Lester Young-http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:mtfibk09hakx

Dexter Gordon-http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&token=&sql=10:9rapqjmyojsa

Ben Webster-http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&token=&sql=10:ynh1z82a8yv3

Here's a great modern album, just in case you get curious. Persaonally, I think it's a true classic.-http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:uya9keftdq7b

I hope you try these, cause I think you'll like them. If I can help with more suggestions, please conact me. It waasn't that long ago that I was asking around for good stuff, I'm happy to be able to help keep it going.

Congratulations. There is so much great jazz and the saxophone does lend itself well to this music because it can be played with passion. There are many great players but I think you would enjoy the playing of Stan Getz. If you go to Yahoo Music you can set up your own radio station to play jazz all day.
Also try Lee Konitz, Gerry Mulligan, Coleman Hawkins, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane and Sonny Rollins. Good luck.

If you like nature boy, check out Nat King Cole. More piano based than sax. For sax, check out Charlie (Bird) Parker. It may not be what you are after.

Also try the big band swing era. Glenn Miller, Woody Herman, Cab Calloway, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman etc.
