You'll need to know about referencing and tag lines, ad words, etc.
It all depends on these items. It's quite tricky and you need to keep doing it monthly to stay on top when search engines are looking for you.
A good way to have your site show up is to have lots of links in it to other big sites. For this, you need to have alliances. For instance, I have written articles for ezine.com and now I am an expert author and they sent me a link to use on my website that links to theirs. You can also get a link from yahoo answers. They will allow you to use a link to your questions. I also donate 1% of my profits to the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation, which gives me another link to a big website.
One thing to keep in mind is this: The internet is not like magazine advertising. You have to refresh it or lose it...
