does a poly ring tone mean you hear the music or the actual song?

Polyphonic ringtones are just the tune-no words, but not monophonic(one tone) or duophonic(2 tones). Polyphonic is more musical than the other two I mentioned, but not as good as true tones which are the actual songs!
