I have reported one of their precious "power sellers" not only for misleading advertising on their auction but a method of auction posting that is actually doing Ebay out of money and is forbidden according to their selling rules. The seller advertises goods for 49p and displays £1.49 in the postage section at the top section of the advert when people buy and pay they are then sent an email asking for a postage and packing fee! Apparently the £1.49 was for collection! I reported this on Friday. It's now the following Wednesday and all EBAY are doing is faffing about send me emails to "validate my email stream"! They are a disgrace and they are just fobbing me off. It seems Power sellers can get away with it? See what you think?

Anyone that thinks I should read the small print should also read ebays sellers rule about low buy prices and extortionate postage prices

Don't get me wrong 99% of the sellers I've dealt with on ebay are honest and reliable but when one doesn't come up to scratch they should be named and shamed

Yes but Ebay are a law unto their own and no matter what you report, if they're making money on it, they won't action it.

Yes they are getting out of hand, what with Very high post costs and so called insurance added on after the sale, the other day a guy wanted £10 to post me a slim phone battery that can go in a standard bubble pack envelope, so I found a guy in Hong Kong and he sent it from there for £2 and the battery was a penny cheaper, They should make a maximum post cost according to the country of origin, I am sure it would be easy to do for such an organisation.

Its wrong isn't it. I reported one of their precious power sellers for as I hadn't received an item and I was fobbed off. I also reported a powerseller as they were selling copy DVD's advertised as new + sealed and again they stuck up for the seller. Another time I had sent a postal order for a DVD and never received the item to be told that the seller was no longer registered and there was nothing they could do. I only use sellers I have used before and trust now.

EBay isn't as good as it used It be. Too many people now know how to play the system and lets face it, eBay aren't bothered as long as they are making money and they are making a lot money from Power Sellers (even with dodgy postage prices!) All you can do is just watch what you buy on there from now on and just be careful.

it does say that the 1.49 was for collection. you need to read auctions more carefully. eBay dont like to complain against power sellers as they bring in millions of pounds for eBay from sales. it was on watchdog that power sellers are selling fake designer clothes and stuff and eBay wont do anything about it. eBay is great if you are careful and read exactly what you are buying

Well to be fair they have been quite clever, but also they have stated "Price
Auction Buy It Now Price £0.49
Shipping
COLLECTION
Handling Fee £1.49
By arrangement 4 days per week
or Delivery can be arranged through our contractors
by choosing the
Other Courier option
when paying
UK £11.5
FOR EACH PURCHASE
Shipping through our contractors is seamless"
At the end of the day, the products cost more than £0.49 and they are relying on the fact that people won't be able to collect.

It puzzles me why people ever use sites like this in the first place. All I ever see/hear is complaints, and that's not just once in a while! Have you people never heard of proper shops - any firm worth their salt takes on-line orders and they are cheaper than the advertised prices on many occasions, AND they don't take the Micky out of you with p+p charges.

You're very passionate about this, aren't you? I agree with you wholeheartedly and you really need to make a stink with those within ebay that can actually do something. The ebay building is just along the road from me so I shall ask some of the guys I know there what you can do that will make a difference.

In all fairness to the seller, it does say in the auction exactly what the delivered costs will be. I don't think ebay will do anything about this. The best you can do is leave feedback explaining the situation, bearing in mind you'll receive like for like feedback yourself.

DONGLE!
Looks like you were in a bit too much of a hurry to grab a "bargain"! If something seems really cheap then always make sure that you check the ad fully. They have not tried to hide the fact that they charge £11.50 for postage.
Just admit that you messed up and pay them.

I have been ripped off on Ebay 2 times and I have stopped using it. I did not get my money back on both times.
