The average wedding costs $25,000US. More, if like many you borrow money to pay for it. That's a new car bought and paid for!

If your in a solid commited relationship, why marry and who do you think benefits from marrying?

You can still get married without all the bells and whistles...
Now a lot of females, and some males have this image of what their wedding will be like and they have to put on a show for the relatives dont you know, its a fairytale...Its all show and has nothing to do with the marriage, its a party....Now if you can afford it more power to you...If you expect the wedding to be paid for by your parents, then you need to rethink that. If they offer money take that and put a down payment on a house, buy a car like you said, something you can show for it and not just a photo album...With the borrowing money to do it, oh im so against that...If you can not afford to pay for it with what you have, do not start your life together in debt....Really dumb move...
I have a title and this is the first time im sharing it on here...it Reverend, im an ordained minister, i marry people...Not that you can tell by my answers on here lol im kinda mean at times lol and yes i cuss and sometimes im evil....
I understand what your trying to say with this question...But if you love someone and you want to spend the rest of your life with them, why not get married? Then you become one with two different personalities and you dont need meds for that disease....lol
Sharing ones self and your name and raising your children as a mom and pop team, isnt a bad thing.
With the marriage cert it also gives your partner a feeling of security. We all know a lot of marriages are doomed from the start, but there is something about that piece of paper and the promise you make with your vows that seals the deal, so to speak....
I do know very successful commited, not by marriage relationships...I did offer to marry them for free LOL....
So i guess if you as a person feel secure in your relationship and the vow of saying I love you and the promise to stay together forever is good enough to make your partnership work, then more power to you and i wish you luck...I do believe in my heart people benefit from marriage, as long as there is love, trust and communication a great team work....I think both benefit from this emotionally....

My Wedding was $25.00
No Cake
No best Friend
No Party
No Honeymoon
No real Gold rings..they faded

I've been married 24 years and going strong.
It makes me just wonder sometimes when people get married ...it's not what you do when you get married or how much you spend on a wedding.
It's true love that matters and that will carry you through the crap that I've been through and thensome.

I've had no benefits to marriage.

If I were doing it all over again, I'd have bailed eleven years ago, and started really exploring the dating world, rather than marrying my "first".

Marriage is a rip-off to the guy... nowadays, he pays for the wedding, and if the marriage goes sour, he pays for the rest of his life, as well. Often with his life. And if you stay married, well, you're going to be paying for the rest of your life, too.

Big weddings aren't all that important, it's how the couple really feels about each other that really should be considered. As for marriages, I wouldn't have so much to say about them, as I've NEVER EVER been in one. And I'll very likely NEVER EVER be married.

It is a crappy deal. Stay away from a contract that you cannot get out of unless you want to surrender more than half your monies. Loss of trust. And that is without even having kids!
Love fades like a cheap photograph.
