Please tell me what is the difference between these sentences:

He looked across at his junior.
He looked at his junior.

Please help me. Thank you.

The first sentence seems to imply that he is looking over a distance compared to the second which could be face to face.Very subtle but that's the feeling I get.

There is a third party interpretation there, i.e. 'across' 'Looked at' is interpreted as two people alone with each other. Have a good day!

The first implies that Junior is a little farther.
The second tells that Junior is near...
