when a person is performing any of the classical dances, there is total devotion & concentration where nothing but the dance & its movements enter a person's mind. this same sort of a devotion is required to be a true follower of God(any God) that is.

In many cultures dancing is synonymous with prayer. When dancing with God in mind and spirit you are giving of yourself physically, mentally and emotionally to spend time with God. When ever you use your time and energy to glorify God, be it through prayer, tithing, singing, dancing or however you may choose to worship, you are letting God know that you want to know Him...hence get closer to Him.

It is believed that anything that helps yout to release stress and all the negative thoughts and make yourself empty, letting your mind wander off, can take you near God. Its when you stop thinking, that the soul starts working. So, you may dance your way to God too.

you've got some good answers here. i just wanted to add a real world example, the sufis of islam. they have used dance for centuries to become closer to god.
"The Sema ceremony (whirling ceremony) is .......... type of "religious dancing" is not common outside of Turkey and the Sufi sects. ........... its original purpose was to bring the dancer in closer contact with God, like a type of meditation, a religious experience."

as a cristian dancer myself, i no u can show God u love him by dancing- acting out biblical stories through dance, or dancing to religious songs. or just dedicate ur dance 2 God
