Dunno... a nation is a country with borders, passports laws etc.. and a race is something for horses, athletes, cars etc!

A nation is group of people sharing such characteristics as language, culture and/or ethnicity.

Contrary to others beliefs, a nation does not require borders, e.g. the Kurds or the Roma. A _state_ has borders, however.

Race refers to large groupings of people set apart from others on the basis of common, genetically-linked, physical characteristics (e.g., skin color, hair type).

According to Wiktionary, A race may also be a large group of people set apart from others on the basis of a common heritage, e.g. the Anglo-Saxon race. I don't hold with this second definition, which is probably the source of confusion between race and nation.

A nation is defined as a group of people of defined territory, who share the same idiology, belief, and who have a unified hystorical tradition, culture and are governed by a single government either of their own or others.

A race is a group of human beings who can be distinguished or singled out on the basis of their physical carracteristics such as skin or hair. Eg. THE BLACK RACE (AFRICANS), RED INDIANS

A nation may be formed of many races.
A race is a distinct genetically of people who often are related.
However, it is very much unlikely that you will find one pure race as we all moved around and mix married.
Mrs Thatcher is a 1/4 middle east.Amazing fact, is not it?
Mrs Queen is 3/4 German. Another amusing fact.
I would not be surprised to discover that Enoch Powell was 3/4 African.

I believe a race is determined by physcial ethnic characteristics - ie European, Asian, Afro-Carribbean etc

Or you can maybe subdivide it - ie European can be split into Nordic people (blonde blue eyed pale skin etc), Meditteraeneans (dark hair, olive skin brown eyes etc), and Asians can be split into Aryans, Dravidians, Mongoloids (Chinese etc)

A Nation is a piece of land with its own culture, laws, identity, borders etc - for example Britain (or England/Scotland/Wales if you prefer), France, America, Germany etc.

I don't agree that "Welsh, English, Scots" are a "race". I'm Welsh and I don't feel a separate "race" to English people - I sure as hell don't look any different. My BF is English and we're having a baby - does that mean our child will be "mixed race"! LOL! We both are white with dark hair and brown eyes. Its stupid to say that we are different "races".

Nation is a different term for country. And a race is an event that occurs when two or more people see who's the fastest or who has the fastest car ect.

A Nation is a geographical area with stablished borders, shared by many people, whom in many cases are of different ethnicities, but who at their core share a culture, customs, language, traditions, etc. Race is nothing less than perceived differences in our social stratification system. In other words, we are one race; not many races. I want people to get that simple fact into their little brain. These terms have often been confused? It amazes me. They have been confused because of sheer ignorance. People need to educate themselves.

Nation: a country, kingdom or grouping of masses related by virtue of laws and location under a common leadership.

Race: ethnic inclination resulting from natural selection,e.g mongoloid, Caucasoid, negroid, etc.

Usually people twist the too because nations usually comprise people of one race though they do not necessarily need to have this composure to qualify as a nation.
