Life is good, my job is exciting and challenging, home life is fine. The last couple of weeks have been especially good, but I've been feeling a bit stressed as well as being happy.
Then last night I had such an angry dream, I shouted and screamed and swore, then woke up feeling calmer than I have for a long time.
Where is this anger coming from?
And no, it's a while since I was a teenager!

Maslow is for middle class navel gazers!!

I think that you have a lot of guilt and you are feeling under stress being a supportive person. Who is supporting you Nev? Who is their to pick you up? I read your questions, nobody can be that bloody happy without something giving.

I think you need to look at what you really want and think about getting it. It would probably help to talk through your issues with a person centred counsellor in order that you get some support and some understanding!

I had a very similar problem. I'm actually seeing a therapist about it now. I had what I thought was a great life but I felt really tense and on edge all the time and I just couldn't figure out why. After chatting to the therapist (something I was asked to do by loved ones because they had noticed the change as well) allot of stuff came out that I had no idea I was sitting on. If your feelings keep up I suggest a therapist. If it's nothing then you wasted an hour of time, if it's something then you're on your way to fixing it. And if the therapist says it's nothing that they can tell I'd try a Medical Dr. All sorts of problems can effect hormones and body function making you act very different than you're used to.
All the best.

When things are going well, our unconscious often throws up old issues we haven't dealt with, sometimes in a dream or fantasy. It's as if our brains say, "Okay, you're in good enough shape to deal with this old issue." Since you were shouting in the dream, I wonder if you can remember what you were dreaming and whom you were shouting at. That might help you figure out what the issue is and how it relates to your life at the moment. Dreams are always relevant to something current -- at the time of the dream.
When you say "stressed," that can mean a lot of different things. We're taught to suppress and deny anger, to forgive and forget, but unless we deal with why we're angry or WERE angry when we were young, then it will surface again and again and we can't get to forgiveness. We have to get through it, not around it.
Pay attention to your sequence of dreams and how they evolve over time as you change and resolve the issues that are up in your life.

You sometimes experienced bad dreams when you are in
stress. recollect any event in your past that caused you
to be very upset and revived the scenery, then try to compare
it with your present life, which you said is good. If you think
you are still angry with yourself, you can shout hard enough to release your emotions. Then, feel at ease and go relax, and
your anger will be diminished and perhaps will be gone....

If life is good, there must be something underlying. Can you not have some quiet time to think about what it might be, It could be a help to you if you wrote it down.

Stress occurs in anything we do, its part and parcel these days as more pressure is put on us. It could be because Christmas is coming up? Afterall its about a time of reflection and being with family.

Hello, I get very angry for no reason at all. What helps me is a hard pillow I have in my bedroom I beat the crap out of it. It's not a cure but it sure calms me down and I feel a lot better for it.

Sounds like you need some meditation.. try gently focusing on an insignificant object.. This will allow the greater part of your brain rest.. you will gradually de-stress, and your anger will lessen.

I had this same problem a while ago. I went for therapy and discovered some blocked memories from my childhood. I dealt with them and I've never had so much peace. I'm not saying this is your problem as well, maybe you have some unresolved issues you should work on.......

SOMETIMES THERE ARE UNDERLYING THINGS IN OUR LIVES THAT WE DON'T EVEN REALIZE ARE BOTHERING US. TAKE SOME TIME TO YOURSELF AND JUST CHILL OUT FOR A LITTLE BIT. IF THERE IS SOMEONE THAT YOU CAN TALK TO ABOUT STUFF AND THE REASONS WHY YOU ARE FEELING STRESSED THAT MAY HELP AS WELL. GOOD LUCK AND I AM GLAD TO HEAR THAT YOUR LIFE IS GOING WELL...EXCEPT FOR THE STRESS. BE STRONG AND IT WILL PASS BEFORE TOO LONG.
