I have an Audi A-4 and this is my 3rd turbo car. I am being told that I should have let the turbo cool before shutting down the engine. Is a turbo timer needed but not installed for some reason on these cars?

yup! u really need a turbo timer otherwise u will wait til your engine cools down before shutting off the engine. all car manufacturers dont install turbo timer in their turbo cars simply bec turbo timer is an accessories or after-market item & they dont adopt it on the brandnew cars. usage of our turbo engines are not as ragged as turbo installed in the cars used for rallyes or racing.

this will exclude you from the "snooty yuppie turbo club" but john deere ( the tractor manufacturer) has an accessory oil reservoir that fills up a few seconds after the oil comes up to pressure and then drains through the turbo after shutdown to protect those bearings, installing one of these is no excuse for neglecting to let your turbo "spool down" for a few min. after a run. good luck, use synthetic oil.enjoy your nsu.
