Its not that she doesn't want them but (at a later date) she's really apprehensive about the responsibilites of having children since we're both full time working doctors and she loves her career. We both spend at least 12 hours away from home and she's worried that children will make life harder for her to handle. She's terrified of labour too, having handled so many labouring women herself and seen the things that can go wrong. How do I reassure her?

You can't really reassure her, you said yourself that she has seen all about it. She isn't ready to be a mom yet and you have to respect that. You can talk to her about how great it will be to have a baby one day. Keep it up in the air, when she is ready to give up working for a little while and have the baby she will tell you. Good luck, God Bless.

if you are both working 12 hour days, having a baby is going to effect both of you, but presumably her the most. It is a big decision that really should have been mutually made before doing the "...till death do us part." thing.

Why is it so important for you to have children right now? Having children is a blessing from God, leave it up to Him. He will know when you both are ready. It's a little thing we call FAITH!

You want to have a baby so bad, you give birth, you stay home and take care of it...Do not try and talk he into it, let her make sure its the right time for her...Its her body....

Hate to pop your bubble, but she's right. When she's ready, she's ready. Don't push the issue.
