How can I Password Protect my USB external Hard Drive?

I have an external Hard drive which connects to the USB port of my computer. But, I want that whenever I connect it to my USB port it should first ask for a password to access its data. Please Guide me ......................

That's like pass-word protecting a CD or floppy disk. The software to do this has to come with the memory unit. Or alternatively, you must obtain the encryption software package which has a feature to pass-word protect portable memory units.
