On YA! tonight I've seen and given answers to a lot of questions on race, and I've seen a lot of nastiness from every group towards each other. Is there any way we can ever have (especially black and white Americans) an honest and constructive discussion on the subject of race? I have to think that this has been tried before by smarter people than me, but I don't know. I would like to think that most questions on this website represent rather extreme viewpoints, but I just don't know anymore. Please, thoughtful answers only. And let me add I don't mean to ask black and white people exclusively- anybody, everybody, chime in- just lets all be prepared to listen.........

In my own life I don't run into too many people hung up on color- but I do seem to here on YA!. I'm glad lots of you are saying 'who cares' about it, I think it's a good sign that a particular race isn't a highly valued attribute. But I just have a feeling not everybody agrees. It would be nice if everyone didn't focus on it, but the truth is that plenty still do, right? Therefore we still have a problem.

Why see a person by his color?. All are human beings..Animals which are having lesser IQ than us, do not discriminate their race in terms of skin color.
Extreme view are welcome,I believe.Moderates need not participate since their views are known to the higher % of populations................

Unfortunately it'll never happen. There will always be hatred between blacks and whites, along with other cultures. I know it's usually blacks vs. whites that are thought of as enemies, but my dad went to a high school were the blacks were more enemies with the Asians. The sad thing is most, if not all, racism is from generations back. It would be nice if racism would cease to exist, it's just getting it to be that way. All I can suggest is to represent yourself as one from your race that is against racism and that there are those who dod and do not support the emotional separation of ethnicity.
To add, I already felt racism was foolish anyway, but the whole reason people have a certain color and look to them is because of the climate of their origins. For black people, the reason they are black is because Africa is very hot, and they need dark skin, eyes, and hair to have their bodies protected. Whites come from cooler climates, so they don't need that protection. A blue-eyed blonde will have a harder time being comfortable in Africa, whereas a black person would be freezing a lot quicker in England.

uhm if people can just accept everybody for what they are.. like really not making a big deal, and the n word should not be praised
well there should be a racial draft and a sit down beforehand, about how blacks have bigger... and are more athletic (this is all in general), asians= smarter, probably nothing else but the fact that the old asians can drive for sh... latinos funny, crafty, always got somethin to say, indians smart, and whites are the generic race, they have a little bit of everthing and they try to be everybody else
if that wasnt what we call racist i dont know what is

i must have started it with my question. i thought it was a legitimate question and really wanted to know what the answer was. i dont think that it will ever change because everyone is afraid to ask and answer.
until we can understand each other and be willing to let go of the past and what our ancestors done to each other its never going to change. its a sad shame that we have to pay for what happened years ago and our kids and grand kids will carry it on forever. its such a touchy subject that we all just give up on it.

I think we are going backwards, the whites gave in and excepted the blacks now they are the ones being racist. It's causing the whites to become racist them self's in order to defend themselves.
And also I believe with 911 and the following war the whites are looking for peace but our country is going to crap, we don't want our children and grandchildren to have to live in a ghetto possibly getting killed and raped. One way or another America is coming to an end.

I think people need to stop focusing on race altogether. It doesn't matter what race we are. We are all people! Maybe if people stop talking about it, they would stop thinking about it.
